Today, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) reported 48 new cases of COVID-19 from 677 specimens analyzed from tests administered September 9 – 11, 2022:
September 12: 6 of 184 test positive for COVID-19
Flood Advisory in Effect for Guam; Heavy Rainfall Expected Next Week
The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flood advisory for Guam, in effect until 2:15 p.m. this afternoon. Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches is expected, resulting in minor flooding.
No Tsunami Threat to Marianas from Papua New Guinea Earthquake
The U.S. Geological Survey recorded an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.6 that occurred 67 km E of Kainantu, Papua New Guinea, with a depth of 61.4 km, at 9:46 a.m. (ChST).
As advised by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, there is no tsunami threat to Guam or the Northern Marianas at this time.
This will be the final statement issued by GHS/OCD unless additional information is received.
Heavy Rains Expected Next Week;
Thunderstorm Advisory in Effect Through This Afternoon
The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a thunderstorm advisory for the Guam International Airport Authority, in effect until 5 p.m. this afternoon. Thunderstorms are possible or occurring within 20 nautical miles of the airport.
