No Immediate Threat to Marianas Assessed from Reported North Korea Launch

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in conjunction with the Mariana Regional Fusion Center (MRFC), federal and military partners, continue to monitor events surrounding the region including reports of the recent launch of an unidentified projectile out of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) today. 

Flood Advisory in Effect; Practice Caution on the Roadways

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flood advisory for Guam, in effect until 4:30 p.m. this afternoon. Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring. Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas is expected. Between 1 and 1.4 inches of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are expected over the area.

Heaviest rains are expected between Asan, Naval Base Guam, to Agat and along Cross Island Road.

Residents and visitors are advised to take the following precautionary actions:

    Cumulative COVID-19 Test Results: 14 New Cases Reported October 1 – 3

    Gusty Showers Over Waters of Guam and Rota

    The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a marine weather statement for Guam and Rota coastal waters. A line of showers, capable of producing winds of 30 to 33 knots, is located in eastern and southern waters of Guam and Rota, moving west at 25 knots.

    Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots and locally higher waves. Lightning is also possible with this line. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. Be alert and take precautions as required.

      Cumulative COVID-19 Test Results: 67 New Cases Reported September 27 - 30

      Today, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) reported 67 new cases of COVID-19 from 1,582 specimens analyzed from tests administered September 26 – 29, 2022:

      • September 30: 13 of 419 test positive for COVID-19

      • September 29: 16 of 296 test positive for COVID-19

      • September 28: 23 of 535 test positive for COVID-19

      • September 27: 15 of 332 test positive for COVID-19
