Thunderstorm Advisory in Effect

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a thunderstorm advisory, in effect for the Guam International Airport Authority until 12:15 p.m. this afternoon. Thunderstorms are possible or occurring within 20 nautical miles of the airport.

Be alert and take precautions as required. If outdoors or boating, seek shelter if lightning is seen or thunder is heard.

JIC RELEASE NO. 1138 - COVID-19 Test Results: 22 New Cases, 13 Hospitalized; COVID-19-related Fatalities Adjusted; Additional COVID-19 Updates

Earthquake Recorded

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.9 that struck 30 km NNE of Yigo Village, Guam, with a depth of 132.1 km, at 1:42 a.m. (ChST).

There were no damages or injuries reported from the nearby earthquake. There is no tsunami threat to the Marianas from the earthquake.

No Tsunami Threat to Marianas from Taiwan Earthquake

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.2 that occurred 86 km E of Yujing, Taiwan, with a depth of 10.0 km, at 4:44 p.m. (ChST).

As advised by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, there is no tsunami threat to Guam or the Northern Mariana Islands at this time.

This will be the final statement issued by GHS/OCD unless additional information is received.

Flood Advisory in Effect for Guam; Practice Caution in Heavy Rain

The National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Forecast Office Guam has issued a flood advisory for Guam until 7:30 p.m. Urban and small stream flooding from excessive rainfall is expected. Between 0.6 and 1.2 inches of rain has already fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected. 

Some locations that will experience flooding include Dededo, Tamuning, Yigo, Mangilao, Chalan Pago-Ordot, Barrigada, Yona, Hagatna Heights, Andersen AFB, Talofofo, Mongmong-Toto-Maite, Sinajana, Inarajan, Asan, Merizo, Piti, Santa Rita and Umatac.
