Strong Thunderstorms Over Guam Waters; Boaters Advised to Seek Safe Harbor

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a marine weather statement for strong thunderstorms over Guam coastal waters. Strong thunderstorms, capable of producing frequent lighting, were located along a line extending from near Agat to Cocos Island, moving west at 15 knots.
Mariners can expect frequent lightning strikes and heavy downpours. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. Intense lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the open water, stay below deck if possible, and keep away from ungrounded metal objects.

A thunderstorm advisory remains in effect for the Guam International Airport Authority until 2 a.m. Monday morning.  Thunderstorms are possible or occurring within 20 nautical miles of the airport.
Be alert and take precautions as required. These storms have been producing occasional lightning. Seek shelter if lightning is seen or thunder is heard.
