Two COVID-19-Related Fatalities Reported
The Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s 114th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Memorial Hospital (GMH) at approximately 10:38 a.m. on December 7, 2020. The patient was a 60-year-old male with underlying conditions that were further compounded by COVID-19. He was admitted to GMH on October 1, 2020 and tested positive upon admission.

DPHSS COVID-19 Community Mass Testing Resumes Friday

The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) will resume COVID-19 community mass testing on Friday, December 11, 2020. DPHSS, in collaboration with the Office of the Governor, Judiciary of Guam, Mayors’ Council of Guam, Guam National Guard, Department of Public Works, Guam Police Department, Micronesia Mall Management, Guam Premier Outlet Management, and other Government of Guam and Federal Agencies, will hold community testing at no cost to the people of Guam.

 

JIC RELEASE NO. 483 - Results: 13 New Cases of COVID-19; Vaccine and Antiviral Prioritization Policy Committee Meeting

Thirteen (13) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 627 tests performed on Tuesday, December 8, 2020. Four (4) cases were identified through contact tracing. One (1) case reported recent travel and was identified in quarantine.

 

To date, there have been a total of 7,039 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 113 deaths, 594 cases in active isolation and 6,332 not in active isolation.

NWS Advisory in Effect; Avoid Hazardous Seas and Dangerous Rip Currents

The National Weather Service (NWS), Guam Weather Forecast Office has the following advisory in effect:

high risk of rip currents remains in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through Thursday night. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore. Dangerous rip currents are expected along east facing reefs.

JIC RELEASE NO. 482 - Results: 7 New Cases of COVID-19; Ultra-Low Temperature Freezer Storage for COVID-19 Vaccines on Guam

Special Note: As of December 7, 2020, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) surveillance team now reports COVID-19 testing using the number of specimens tested. Under the previous testing definition, COVID-19 test reporting did not include follow-up testing for known COVID-19 cases. Known cases often receive follow-up testing for COVID-19, including both diagnostic and serology testing.

Results: 18 Test Positive for COVID-19

To date, there have been a total of 6,977 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 113 deaths, 808 cases in active isolation and 6,056 not in active isolation.

113th COVID-19-Related Fatality Reported
The Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s 113th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the U.S. Naval Hospital (USNH) at approximately 6:30 a.m. The patient was a 63-year-old female with underlying conditions that were further compounded by COVID-19. She was admitted to USNH on December 4, 2020 and was a known positive case.
