Small Craft Advisory in Effect through Friday Morning

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a small craft advisory for the coastal waters of Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan, in effect until 6 a.m. Friday. 

Northeast winds of 15 to 20 knots with gusts up to 30 knots, and seas of 8 to 10 feet are expected. Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid boating in hazardous conditions.

Two COVID-19-related Fatalities Reported
Today, the Joint Information Center was notified of two (2) COVID-19-related fatalities:

  • The 295th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) on January 31, 2022. The patient was a 73-year-old female, unvaccinated, with underlying health conditions who tested positive on January 28, 2022.

Four COVID-19-related Fatalities Reported

Today, the Joint Information Center was notified of four (4) COVID-19-related fatalities:

  • The 291st COVID-19-related fatality was pronounced dead on arrival at the Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) on January 21, 2022. The patient was an 81-year-old male, vaccinated, with underlying health conditions who tested positive on January 21, 2022.

Five COVID-19-related Fatalities Reported
Today, the Joint Information Center was notified of five (5) COVID-19-related fatalities:

  • The 286th COVID-19-related fatality was pronounced dead at the Chief Medical Examiner’s morgue on January 15, 2022. The patient was an 63-year-old male, unvaccinated, with underlying conditions. He tested positive on December 22, 2021.

No Immediate Threat Assessed from Reported North Korea Missile Launch

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in conjunction with the Mariana Regional Fusion Center (MRFC), federal and military partners, continue to monitor events surrounding the region including reports of the recent launch of an unidentified projectile out of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) today.

285th COVID-19-related Fatality Reported
Today, the Joint Information Center was notified Guam’s 285th COVID-19-related fatality was pronounced dead on arrival at the Guam Regional Medical City on January 26, 2022. The patient was a 45-year-old male, vaccinated, with unknown underlying health conditions. He tested positive on January 26, 2022.
