The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office advised strong daytime winds and dry conditions may lead to rapid fire spread across parts of Guam. A fire weather watch will be in effect for Guam from Tuesday morning through Thursday afternoon. A fire weather watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur.
317th COVID-19-related Fatality Reported
Today, the Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s 317th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) on February 19, 2022. The patient was a 74-year-old male, with no known vaccination, who had underlying health conditions and tested positive on February 12.
The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a high risk of rip currents, which remains in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through Thursday afternoon. Dangerous rip currents are expected along east facing reefs. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from the shore into deeper water. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions. If caught in a rip current, do not swim against the current.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office has the following advisories in effect:
A high surf advisory is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan until 6 p.m. this evening. Hazardous surf of 7 to 9 feet is expected along north facing reefs and beaches.
Correction to JIC Release No. 964
On Friday, February 18, 2022, the JIC reported one COVID-19-related fatality which occurred at Health Services of the Pacific. The JIC was later informed that the fatality occurred in hospice care. The correction follows:
The 316th COVID-19-related fatality occurred in hospice care on February 8, 2022. The patient was a 57-year-old female, fully vaccinated without a booster shot, with underlying health conditions who tested positive on January 31, 2022.
