Flood Advisory in Effect; Practice Caution in Heavy Rain

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flood advisory, in effect for Guam until 11:30 a.m. this morning. Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring. Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas is expected. Between 0.4 and 1 inch of rain has already fallen.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Mangilao, Chalan Pago-Ordot, Yona, Talofofo, Sinajana, Inarajan, Asan, Merizo, Santa Rita, and Umatac.

Take the following precautionary actions:

    Thunderstorm Advisory in Effect; Practice Caution

    The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a thunderstorm advisory, in effect for the Guam International Airport Authority until 4 p.m. this afternoon. Thunderstorms are possible or occurring within 20 nautical miles of the airport.

    If outdoors, seek shelter if lightning is seen or thunder is heard.

    Cumulative COVID-19 Test Results: 40 New Cases Reported October 4 - 7

    Today, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) reported 40 new cases of COVID-19 from 1,279 specimens analyzed from tests administered October 3 – 6, 2022:

     
    • October 7: 10 of 321 test positive for COVID-19

    • October 6: 10 of 223 test positive for COVID-19

    • October 5: 11 of 411 test positive for COVID-19

    • October 4: 9 of 324 test positive for COVID-19

    The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flood advisory, in effect for southern and central parts of Guam until 3 p.m. this afternoon. Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring. Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas is expected. Between 0.4 and 1.2 inches of rain has already fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches is expected.

    Flood Warning in Effect; Practice Caution in Heavy Rain

    The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flash flood warning for Guam, in effect until 2:30 p.m. this afternoon. A flash flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.

    Developing showers will produce heavy rain in the area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches is possible.

    Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Mangilao, Chalan-Pago Ordot, Merizo, Yona, Agana Heights, Talofofo, Inarajan, Asan, and Santa Rita.

    No Immediate Threat to Marianas Assessed from Reported North Korea Launch

    The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in conjunction with the Mariana Regional Fusion Center (MRFC), federal and military partners, continue to monitor events surrounding the region including reports of the recent launch of an unidentified projectile out of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) today.

    The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flood advisory for Guam, in effect until 4:30 p.m. this afternoon. Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring. Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas is expected. Between 1 and 1.4 inches of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 1.5 inches are expected over the area.

    Heaviest rains are expected between Asan, Naval Base Guam, to Agat and along Cross Island Road.

    Residents and visitors are advised to take the following precautionary actions:
