AmeriCorps Chainsaw Debris Program Releases FAQs

The AmeriCorps Chainsaw Debris Program is a free service that provides for the removal of trees on private residential property that pose an immediate threat to health and safety. The AmeriCorps Chainsaw Debris Project launched this week and will end on July 28, 2023.

D-SNAP Enrollment Period Ends; Applicants May Get a Call from DPHSS

Guam residents with losses caused by Typhoon Mawar are able to register for federal disaster assistance. The deadline to apply for FEMA individual assistance is July 27. The following Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) are accessible 7-days a week and will also be operational on Tuesday, July 4, during the holiday:

  • Guam Community College: 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.

JIC Recovery Release No. 74 - Disaster Debris Sites and Green Waste Sites Update; Ypao Point Closed for July 4

Disaster Debris Sites and Green Waste Sites Update:

The Typhoon Mawar disaster debris disposal sites located at the old transfer station in Dededo and the former Tiyan carnival grounds in Barrigada will discontinue operations and close at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 3, 2023.

 

The disaster debris disposal site located at Ypao Point in Tamuning will continue operations from now through 6 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2023. Ypao Point will be open for residential use on weekdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and weekends from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

JIC Recovery Release No. 72 - D-SNAP Updates; Disaster Debris Sites and Green Waste Sites Update

D-SNAP Updates:

The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) is informing the public that D-SNAP applicants who received their EBT card may receive a call from DPHSS.

During the call, applicants may be asked for information to ensure the completeness of their D-SNAP application. Such information may include items like their date of birth. Rest assured these calls are legitimate and are intended to ensure benefits are issued.

JIC Recovery Release No. 71 - Applications for D-SNAP Program Accepted through Saturday; RISEUP Last Day to Apply is Tomorrow, June 30

Applications for D-SNAP Program Accepted through Saturday:

The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) announced a three-day extension for the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP). The D-SNAP extension will start on Thursday, June 29, 2023, through Saturday, July 1, 2023 to accommodate the high volume of D-SNAP applicants. 

 

JIC Recovery Release No. 70 - FEMA Public Assistance Applicants Briefing Available on June 29; Funding Approved for Dislocated Workers

Public Assistance for all Categories (A-G and Z) from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is available. Government of Guam agencies, private non-profit (PNP) organizations, and faith-based organizations have the opportunity to apply for funding reimbursements for the response and recovery efforts for Typhoon Mawar.
