Thunderstorm Advisory in Effect; Practice Caution

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a thunderstorm advisory, in effect for the Guam International Airport until 5:00 p.m. this afternoon. Thunderstorms are possible or occurring within 20 nautical miles of the airport.

 Be alert and take precautions as required. These storms have been producing occasional lightning.

Press Release – Flood Advisory in effect until 545pm

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a Flood Advisory in effect for Guam until 545pm for southern Guam.
 
Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Between .06 and 1.2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of .06-1.2 inches are expected.

Some areas that will experience flooding include: Yona, Talofofo, Inarajan, Merizo, Santa Rita, and Umatac.

    Press Release- Heavy Rain over the Weekend; Home preparation tips

    The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam issued a Weather Update to provide information regarding Tropical Disturbance 99W currently northwest of Chuuk, which will bring locally heavy rainfall of 4-8 inches across the region. Currently there are no Tropical Storm Watches or Warnings in effect or expected.

    What to Expect:

    Flood Potential

    Urban and Small stream flooding is possible with heavy showers.

    Flash flooding is possible late Saturday through Tuesday.

    Press Release- Tropical Disturbance 99W North of Chuuk Continues Toward Marianas

    The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam issued a Weather Update to provide information regarding a Tropical Disturbance in Chuuk State which will bring heavy rain to the Marianas.

    99W continues its slow westward trek toward the Mariana Islands tracking generally west-northwest. At this time, forecasted development into a significant tropical cyclone in the next day or two is unlikely.

    A Hydrologic Outlook still remains in effect for Guam.

    Press Release- Developing Tropical Disturbance in Chuuk State to bring Heavy Rain

    The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam issued a Hydrologic Outlook to provide information regarding a Tropical Disturbance in Chuuk State which will bring heavy rain to the Marianas.

    Early estimates indicate this system to bring locally heavy rainfall of 6 to 11 inches across the Marianas. Flash flooding remains likely during Saturday night through Tuesday time frame.

    The offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense remind residents to continue to monitor official channels for updates.

    Press Release- 95W Now Tropical Depression 19W affecting Northern CNMI

    The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam issued a Weather Alert to provide information regarding Tropical Depression 19W, on a forecast track through the northern islands of the CNMI.

    Significant impacts not expected for Guam. Tropical storm force conditions of 39mph are expected across the northern islands of the CNMI today.

    Press Release- Tropical Disturbance, Invest 95W Nearing CNMI

    The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam issued a Weather Alert to provide information regarding Tropical Disturbance, Invest 95W located within the CNMI just northeast of Saipan. It is impacting our region and is now the subject of a Tropical Cyclone Formation Alert.

    Significant wind impacts are not expected with 95W. Islands to the south of 95W (Saipan, Tinian, Rota, and Guam) can expect scattered showers with locally heavy rainfall and isolated thunderstorms.

    GHS/OCD, NBG, and AAFB to Conduct Routine Testing of Advanced Warning Systems

    The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), U.S. Naval Base Guam (NBG), and Andersen Air Force Base (AAFB) will conduct routine testing of the vital communication and advance warning system sirens, respectively, on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, starting at 3:15 p.m.

    GHS/OCD will test the All Hazards Alert Warning System (AHAWS) sirens in conjunction with NBG and AAFB monthly routine testing of the “Giant Voice (GV)” sirens.
