JIC Release No. 22 - TYPHOON MANGKHUT UPDATE: Islandwide Power, Water services

ISLANDWIDE POWER SYSTEM OPERATIONS DURING STORMS/TYPHOONS
 
The Guam Power Authority will maintain service operations during storms/typhoon as long as it is capable and safe to do so on the Island Wide Power System. 

This includes responding to trouble calls regarding interruptions of service or power outages received through GPA Trouble Dispatch lines. 

JIC Release No. 18 - Typhoon Mangkhut Update: Affected flights

United Airlines has issued an advisory today announcing flight changes on Monday, Sept. 10 and Tuesday, Sept. 11 as a result of Typhoon Mangkhut.

Inbound flights on Sept. 10 have been cancelled, with the exception of the Saipan-Guam (UA117), which will depart Saipan at 8:45 a.m. and will arrive at Guam at 9:30 a.m.
 
All morning departures on Sept. 11 have been cancelled.
 

JIC Release No. 17- WEATHER UPDATE: Typhoon Mangkhut Expected Monday Evening

The National Weather Service (NWS), Guam Weather Forecast Office monitors Typhoon Mangkhut as it continues to strengthen and move westward.

As of 4 p.m., Mangkhut was located near 15.2 degrees north latitude and 152.8 degrees east longitude, about 470 miles east of Saipan and 550 miles east-northeast of Guam, moving quickly west at 23 mph with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph.

JIC Release No. 16 - Typhoon Mangkhut Update: What’s Open & Closed

As Typhoon Mangkhut approaches Guam and in anticipation of Condition of Readiness 2, the Joint Information Center is providing a list of businesses and establishments that are open or closed tomorrow:
 
All Government of Guam offices, with the exception of essential services and personnel, will be closed when Condition of Readiness 2 is declared (this is anticipated at 7 p.m. today.)  This includes the University of Guam and Guam Community College. 
 
War in the Pacific National Historical Park - will close once COR 2 is announced. 

JIC Release No. 15 - Typhoon Mangkhut update: Pregnant moms at GMH and Naval Hospital, Senior Citizen Meals

Guam Memorial Hospital Authority will be prepared to receive pregnant mothers at 7 p.m.  
 
GMHA will provide storm shelter for pregnant mothers who are at least thirty-eight (38) weeks pregnant and all high-risk pregnant mothers who are six (6) months or more in their pregnancy.  
 

JIC Release No. 14 - Governor to call COR2 by 7 p.m. today; 14 GDOE schools to open as shelters by 6 p.m.

Governor Eddie Baza Calvo and Rear Adm. Shoshana Chatfield, commander, Joint Region Marianas will be placing the island and military installations, respectively, in Condition of Readiness (COR) 2 at 7 p.m. tonight.

COR 2 means Guamanians can expect to see typhoon-strength winds within 24 hours. A Typhoon Warning is currently in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, Saipan and adjacent coastal waters in the Mariana Islands.

JIC Release No. 13 - Mangkhut is now a typhoon: Shelters to open at 6 p.m.

Mangkhut is now a typhoon. Guam and other islands of the Marianas were placed in a typhoon warning. 

People are urged to use today to prepare for the typhoon.

If you are not sure if your home can withstand typhoon winds, please make use of the shelters, which will be opened at 6 p.m. today. Rules along with the list of shelters will be sent out again. 

WEATHER CONDITIONS
A Typhoon Warning is now in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, Saipan and adjacent coastal waters in the Mariana Islands.
