Governor Calvo has directed the Guam National Guard to assist with power restoration as well as security at the typhoon shelter as we continue recovery efforts.
“My staff and I have met with Guam Power Authority leaders; the GPA crews are working really hard and I commend them for that. We are in a place where we can help GPA continue their efforts to restore power while also helping to ensure the safety of their employees – many of whom have been out working since earlier this week,” Governor Calvo stated.
The Guam National Guard is going to provide engineers and equipment to assist with the restoration of island power to all residents and businesses.
Additionally, the Governor and Lt. Governor want to ensure that the men and women of the Guam Police Department are able to focus on maintaining order and security.
“I want to thank everyone who is helping us in these recovery efforts. The men and women of the Guam National Guard have already assisted with clearing debris from the roads and are assisting with traffic point control. By augmenting existing workers, we promote safety for our people who are working and safety for our community as a whole,” Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio stated.
