A high surf advisory is in effect through Thursday afternoon. Hazardous surf of 8 to 10 feet is expected along north facing reefs and large breaking waves will continue to generate strong and frequent rip currents along east facing reefs.
The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) and U.S. Naval Base Guam (NBG) will conduct routine testing of the vital communication and advance warning system sirens, respectively, on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, starting at 3:15 p.m.
There are now nineteen (19) All Hazards Alert Warning Systems (AHAWS) installed on island. On November 5, GHS/OCD will test the AHAWS sirens in conjunction with NBG monthly routine testing of the “Giant Voice (GV)” sirens.
