The National Weather Service (NWS), Guam Weather Forecast Office advised surging trade winds will bring windy conditions today. The following advisories are in effect:
A wind advisory is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan until midnight tonight. East winds of 20 to 30 mph with frequent gusts to 35 mph are expected today. Secure items that can become airborne with heavy winds such as canopies, tarps, and tents. Be alert for sudden wind gusts if driving a high-profile vehicle, such as a container truck.
The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam have the following advisories in effect:
An wind advisory is in effect for the Guam International Airport until 6 p.m. East-northeast winds of 24 mph with frequent gusts around 29-31 mph are expected.

A high risk of rip currents is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through Sunday afternoon. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore. Dangerous rip currents are expected along east facing reefs. On some beaches, such as Ritidian and Gun Beach, the high risk of rip currents could extend to north facing reefs.
The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in coordination with the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) Center for Homeland Defense and Security (CHDS), will host the Homeland Security Executive Education Seminar on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, from 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at the Hilton Guam Resort.
The National Weather Service (NWS), Guam Weather Forecast Office continue to monitor a tropical disturbance in eastern Micronesia, near Chuuk. The Joint Typhoon Warning Center issued a Tropical Cyclone Formation Alert on this disturbance, Invest Area 95W.
The system is expected to move westward, passing well south of Guam by Tuesday, and passing near Yap by Wednesday or Thursday. At this time, the disturbance poses no direct threat to Guam or the CNMI.
