Flash Flood Warning Extended

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office extended the flash flood warning for Guam until 8:45 p.m. A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring within the warned area. This warning may need to be extended beyond 8:45 p.m. if heavy rain redevelops.

Impassable Roadways Reported, Seek Alternate Routes

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flash flood warning for Guam until 6:15 p.m. A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring within the warned area.

Impacts include flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low-lying areas. Flooding of public roadways is possible in some areas. Landslides are possible in steep terrain.

Flash Flood Warning Now in Effect; Practice Caution in Heavy Rain

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a flash flood warning for Guam until 6:15 p.m. A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring within the warned area.

Heavy rain continues at a rate of two to three inches per hour. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

Impacts expected are flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low-lying areas. Flooding of public roadways is possible in some areas. Landslides are possible in steep terrain.

Heavy Showers and Thunderstorms Expected; Practice Caution in Heavy Rain

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a short term forecast for Guam and Guam coastal waters. Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected, with possible flooding across Guam for the next few hours. The NWS forecast will be updated as necessary as the situation continues to develop.

Be alert for possible flood advisories or warnings over the next several hours.

JIC RELEASE NO. 290 - Eighth and Ninth COVID-19-Related Fatalities

The Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s eighth and ninth COVID-19-related fatalities occurred at the Guam Memorial Hospital (GMH) today. 

At approximately 12:18 p.m. this afternoon, a 61-year-old male with comorbidities, which were further complicated by the virus, passed away. He was transferred to GMH from the Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) on August 14 after testing positive for COVID-19.
