JIC RELEASE NO. 304 - Fourteenth COVID-19 Related Fatality Reported;Governor Signs Executive Order No. 2020-30

The Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s fourteenth COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Memorial Hospital (GMH) today at approximately 9:00 a.m. (ChST). The patient was a 59-year-old male with comorbidities that were compounded by COVID-19.

COVID-19 test results are reported from multiple labs at varying times of the day. The Joint Information Center will report cumulative COVID-19 test results once a day, unless unavailable.

JIC RELEASE NO. 299 - Three COVID-19-Related Fatalities Reported

The Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s eleventh, twelfth, and thirteenth COVID-19-related fatalities occurred today. 

At approximately 12:04 a.m., a 73-year-old female with underlying health issues, passed away. She was pronounced dead on arrival at the Guam Memorial Hospital (GMH). 

At approximately 8:30 a.m., the second patient, a 36-year-old female, passed away at GMH. She is the island’s second youngest COVID-related fatality. 

High Surf Advisory in Effect; High Risk of Rip Currents Expected

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a high surf advisory in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan until 6 p.m. Wednesday. Large breaking waves of 7 to 10 feet along west facing reefs are expected, resulting in a high risk of rip currents.

Impacts expected include dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion.
