JIC RELEASE NO. 745 - DPHSS Expands COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination Clinics; Update on Homebound Vaccination Requests

Guam COVID-19 vaccination update: As of August 6, a total of 104,216 or 76.46% of Guam’s eligible population (residents 12 years and older) have received either both doses in the two-dose series (Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna), or the single dose series (Johnson & Johnson/Janssen) of the COVID-19 vaccine. This percentage includes 7,422 fully vaccinated residents between the ages of 12 – 17, as well as Guam's fully vaccinated adult population of 96,794.

Showers and Brief Thunderstorms Continue; Practice Caution if Traveling in Rainy Conditions

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a short term forecast for Guam and Rota and their coastal waters. Through 5 p.m., showers and possibly a brief thunderstorm is expected across Guam and Rota, with rain briefly heavy at times. Up to an inch of rain is possible, with brief flooding of roads and low-lying areas.

If driving, be alert for ponding of water on roads and for visibilities near zero in heavy rain. Seek shelter if lightning is seen or thunder is heard.

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam issued a short term forecast for Guam. Through 2 p.m., heavy showers and thunderstorms will drop up to an inch of rain over northern and central Guam and adjacent coastal waters. 

If driving, be alert for brief flooding of roads, and for visibility’s near zero in heavy rain. Seek shelter if lightning is seen or thunder is heard.

Governor Leon Guerrero Signs Executive Order No. 2021-17
Today, Governor Lou Leon Guerrero signed Executive Order No. 2021-17, relative to requiring Government of Guam Employees in the executive branch to vaccinate against COVID-19, and orders such that:

Thunderstorm Advisory in Effect; Scattered Showers Expected

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a thunderstorm advisory, in effect for the Guam International Airport until 6:30 a.m. this morning. Thunderstorms are possible or occurring within 20 nautical miles of the airport. Be alert and take precautions as required. If lightning is seen or thunder is heard, remain indoors.
 

For the Marianas, periods of scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to last into Saturday.

 

JIC Release NO. 741 - Thirty of 669 Test Positive for COVID-19; Six COVID-19 Cases with Variants of Interest Identified on Guam; Two GFD Firefighters Test Positive for COVID-19; COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing Schedule

Results: 30 New Cases of COVID-19
Thirty (30) 
new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 669 tests performed on August 3. Six (6) cases were identified through contact tracing. To date, there have been a total of 8,623 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 143 deaths, 119 cases in active isolation, and 8,361 not in active isolation. The CAR Score is 3.0.
