JIC RELEASE NO. 635 - Pause on Johnson & Johnson/Janssen Vaccine; Four of 574 Test Positive for COVID-19; UPDATED: COVID-19 Vaccination Schedule; Food Commodities Distribution Schedule

Out of an abundance of caution and following the latest guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Guam will be implementing a pause in the use of the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen (J&J) COVID-19 vaccine.
   

JIC RELEASE NO. 632 - DPHSS Places Order for Pfizer-BioNTech and Johnson and Johnson/Janssen Vaccines;5 of 645 Test Positive for COVID-19; COVID-19 Vaccination Schedule; Food Commodities Distribution Schedule

Last Friday, the Department of Public Health and Social Services’ (DPHSS) Immunization Program placed an order of 2,340 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, and 8,500 doses of the Johnson and Johnson/Janssen (J&J/Janssen) vaccines, totaling 10,840 additional COVID-19 vaccines for April. All vaccines are anticipated to arrive within three to five business days.
   

Tropical Disturbance Southeast of Yap; No Direct Threat to Marianas at this time

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast office continues to monitor a tropical disturbance southeast of Yap, near 5 degrees north latitude and 144 degrees east longitude. The tropical disturbance is now designated as "medium" by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center, meaning tropical cyclone development is likely, but expected to occur beyond 24 hours.

 
   

JIC RELEASE NO. 631 - Two of 127 Test Positive for COVID-19; UPDATED COVID-19 Vaccination Schedule;COVID-19 Community Testing; Food Commodities Distribution Schedule

Two (2) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 127 tests performed Saturday, April 10. To date, there have been a total of 7,837 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 136 deaths, 31 cases in active isolation, and 7,670 not in active isolation. The CAR Score is 0.2.
   

Red Flag Warning in Effect for Guam; Avoid Outdoor Burning

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam has issued a red flag warning in effect for Guam until 6 p.m. this evening. A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will create ideal conditions for rapid spread of wildfires.
