Pause on Johnson & Johnson/Janssen Vaccine
Out of an abundance of caution and following the latest guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Guam will be implementing a pause in the use of the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen (J&J) COVID-19 vaccine. The pause follows six reported U.S. cases of a rare and severe type of blood clot in individuals after receiving the J&J vaccine and in order to prepare the health care system to recognize and treat patients appropriately, to report severe events they may be seeing in people who have received the J&J vaccine. As of April 12, 2021, more than 6.8 million doses of this vaccine have been administered and as of April 13, 2021, a total of 306 doses have been administered on Guam.

For individuals who have received the J&J vaccine, the risk to them remains very low at this time. For those who recently received the vaccine--within the last few weeks--they should be aware of any symptoms. If you have received the vaccine and develop severe headache, abdominal pain, leg pain, or shortness of breath, individuals should contact their healthcare provider and seek medical treatment. Health care providers are asked to report adverse events to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System at https://vaers.hhs.gov/reportevent.html.

Results: Four New Cases of COVID-19
Four (4) new cases of COVID-19 were identified out of 574 tests performed on Tuesday, April 13. Two (2) cases were identified through contact tracing.

To date, there have been a total of 7,851 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 136 deaths, 37 cases in active isolation, and 7,678 not in active isolation. The CAR Score is 0.2.

Wildfire

Regularly clean the roof and gutters.
Maintain an area approximately 30’ away from you home that is free of anything that will burn, such as wood piles, dried leaves, newspapers and other brush.
Connect garden hoses long enough to reach any area of the home and fill garbage cans, tubs, or other large containers with water.
Review your homeowner's insurance policy and also prepare/update a list of your home's contents.

Fire Weather

Turn on your TV/radio. You’ll get the latest weather updates and emergency instructions.
Know where to go. If you are ordered to evacuate, know the route to take and have plan of where you will go. Check-in with your friends and family.
Keep your car fueled, in good condition, and stocked with emergency supplies and a change of clothes.

Drought

Conserve water

Take shorter showers.

Turn off the water while brushing your teeth or shaving.
Run the washer less frequently and only when you have a full load.
Water your lawn less frequently and do so when the temperature is cooler in the early morning or late evening.
When you run the tap to heat or cool water, keep a pitcher to store the water and use it to water plants.
Avoid washing your car.

Practice fire prevention

Don't set off fireworks when conditions are dry.
Deposit cigarette butts in the proper receptacle to avoid starting a
