Guam’s Emergency Communications Capabilities Expand

Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were on Guam from February 26 through March 2, to install the FEMA National Radio System (FNARS) at the Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) and train key staff how to use the system.

NWS Issues Fire Weather Watch for Guam

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office, Guam has issued a fire weather watch for Guam, in effect through Thursday evening. A fire weather watch means critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur.

Law Enforcement, GDOE Take Extra Precautions Amidst Bomb Threat

On Thursday, February 22, E911 dispatch received a report of a bomb threat specifically mentioning the Guam High School location. After the Navy Police and Guam Police Department were able to conduct a sweep of the facility with use of K9 units, no threat was found, deeming the facility “All Clear.” Responders took all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of the remaining school students, personnel, the surrounding public, and responders involved.

Catastrophic Typhoon Plan Brief and Signing Ceremony

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in coordination with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), will host the Final Plan Brief and Signing Ceremony for the 2018 Guam Catastrophic Typhoon Plan. The brief and signing ceremony will be held, February 13, 2018 at the Cabinet Conference Room, Governor Bordallo Complex, in Hagatna, Guam at 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
