The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam has issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for Guam until 8:45 a.m. A flood advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
Heavy rain will cause urban and small stream flooding on Guam. Roughly 1.5 to 2 inches of rain has fallen in the past several hours. Heavy rain is approaching Guam.
The community is advised to turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) remind residents and visitors to practice extreme caution while traveling in rainy conditions, driving below the speed limit and allowing enough braking distance between vehicles. Avoid floodwaters and use alternate routes if flooding is encountered.
