Possible IED Reported

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) were notified by Guam Fire Dispatch of a possible Improvised Explosive Device (IED) located at Ironwood Estates, Dededo. The location is an unoccupied dwelling and the surrounding residences are sheltering in place. There are no road closures at this time.

The Guam Police Department (GPD), Guam Fire Department (GFD), and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit responded to the scene and assessments are ongoing. The Federal Bureau of Investigations has been notified.

All precautions are being taken to ensure the safety of the public and all responders involved. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

The community is reminded to practice the “3Rs of Explosive Safety” when any UXO is encountered:

  • Recognize - when you may have encountered a munition and that munitions are dangerous.

  • Retreat - do not approach, touch, move, or disturb it, but carefully leave the area.

  • Report - call 911 and advise of what you saw and where you saw it.
