The disturbance is the subject of a tropical cyclone formation alert by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center, meaning the disturbance could become a tropical cyclone in the next 12 to 24 hours.
Across Kosrae and eastern Pohnpei States, showers will increase today with locally heavy rainfall with wind gusts of 25 mph possible through Wednesday morning. For eastern Pohnpei and Kosrae States, wind gusts of 25 mph are expected through Wednesday morning.
As advised by NWS, model guidance shows little significant development with this disturbance at this time but NWS will continue to closely monitor for any changes. It is still early to tell what impact, if any, it will have on the Marianas.
While there is no immediate threat to Guam or the Marianas at this time, the Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) will continue to monitor the system closely with guidance from NWS and provide updates as needed.
