NWS Issues High Surf Advisory for the Marianas

The National Weather Service (NWS) - Guam Weather Forecast Office issued high surf advisory for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan, in effect until 6 p.m. Friday. A high surf advisory means high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions.

Hazardous surf of 9 to 11 feet today will gradually subside through Friday, falling below hazardous level Friday evening. Lingering long period westerly swell from distant Tropical Storm Yutu is generating hazardous surf along west facing reefs.
