SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Director Tanya N. Garfield of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Disaster Field Operations Center-West today reminded private nonprofit organizations in Guam of the July 8, 2019, deadline to apply for an SBA federal disaster loan for property damage caused by Typhoon Wutip that occurred Feb. 23-25, 2019. Private nonprofits that provide essential services of a governmental nature are eligible for assistance.

The National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Forecast Office Guam, in coordination with the University of Guam (UOG) Water and Environmental Research Institute of the Western Pacific (WERI), prepared an assessment for tropical storm and typhoon activity for the island of Guam for the remainder of 2019.

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), working with the Serve Guam Commission which oversees AmeriCorps programs in Guam under the office of the Governor, is accepting applications to the AmeriCorps GHS/OCD program between now and July, 2019.
AmeriCorps is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, an independent federal agency whose mission is to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering.
