Hazardous Surf and Seas Remain

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office advised a surge in the trade winds will bring breezy conditions through tonight with gusts to 20 to 35 mph possible, especially in showers. The following advisories remain in effect:
   

No Immediate Threat to Marianas Assessed from Reported North Korea Launch

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in conjunction with the Mariana Regional Fusion Center (MRFC), federal and military partners, continue to monitor events surrounding the region including reports of the recent launch of an unidentified projectile out of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) today. 
   

GHS/OCD to Conduct AHAWS Siren Test to Assess Operations

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) will conduct a test of the All Hazards Alert Warning System (AHAWS) sirens on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, starting at 3:15 p.m. Residents, visitors and motorists surrounding the AHAWS sirens can expect to hear pre-scripted voice messaging announcing the start and end of the test, and sixty-seconds of the “Alert” siren tone.
   

Wind Advisory in Effect; Practice Caution

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued an airport wind advisory, in effect for the Guam International Airport until 6 p.m. this evening. Winds from the ENE of 15 to 20 knots are expected, with gusts to 30 knots, especially near showers.
