GHS/OCD Host Introduction to IND Effects Training

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in coordination with the Counterterrorism Operations Support (CTOS) – Center for Radiological/Nuclear Training, will host the “Introduction to Improvised Nuclear Device (IND) Effects and Response Strategies” PER-307 course at the GHS/OCD facility in Agana Heights on Wednesday, April 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in coordination with the Counterterrorism Operations Support (CTOS) – Center for Radiological/Nuclear Training, will host two opportunities for the “Introduction to Radiological/Nuclear Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Operations for Law Enforcement” AWR-346 course at the University of Guam, School of Business & Public Administration Bldg., Room 129. The 4-hour course is offered twice

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in coordination with the Counterterrorism Operations Support (CTOS) – Center for Radiological/Nuclear Training, will host multiple opportunities for the “Introduction to Radiological/Nuclear Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Operations” AWR-140 course at the University of Guam, School of Business & Public Administration Bldg., Room 129. The 4-hour course is offered multiple times

GHS/OCD Host Tsunami Awareness Training

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in coordination with the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center (NDPTC), will host the Tsunami Awareness (AWR-217) training on April 3, 2018 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the University of Guam, School of Business & Public Administration.

NWS Advisories in effect for the Marianas

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam, has the following advisories in effect: A red flag warning is in effect for Guam until 7 p.m. this evening. A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. NWS advises dry weather is expected to continue the next few days with only a few isolated showers. Stronger and gusty daytime winds today will cause any fires that develop to become difficult to contain.

NWS Issues Fire Weather Watch for Guam

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office, Guam has issued a fire weather watch for Guam, in effect through Saturday evening. A fire weather watch means critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur.

NWS Issues Red Flag Warning for Guam; Outdoor Burning is Not Recommended

The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam issued a red flag warning, in effect until 7 p.m. this evening for Guam. A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will create ideal conditions for rapid spread of wildfires.
