NWS Advisories in Effect; Strong Rip Currents will be Life-Threatening

The National Weather Service (NWS), Guam Weather Forecast Office has the following advisories in effect for the Marianas:

A high surf advisory and high risk of rip currents is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through Friday night. Along east facing reefs, surf will be hazardous at 8 to 11 feet today. Along south facing reefs, surf will be hazardous at 7 to 9 feet. Avoid venturing near reefs and beaches, especially those facing east and south. Large breaking waves can knock you down and cause serious injuries. Strong rip currents will be life threatening. If caught in a rip current, swim parallel to shore and back toward the beach when possible. Do not try to swim directly against a rip current.

Call to the Community – Come Out and Support CNMI Donation Drive

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), on behalf of the Government of Guam (GovGuam), continue donations management to support those in the CNMI affected by Super Typhoon Yutu. While the storm has left the Marianas two weeks ago, the destruction remains especially for those in Tinian and Saipan.
