NWS Advisories in Effect for the Marianas

The National Weather Service (NWS), Guam Weather Forecast Office has the following advisories in effect:

A high surf advisory is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan until 6 p.m. this evening, meaning high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions. Hazardous surf of 7 to 9 feet along north facing reefs and surf as high as 9 feet along east facing reefs is expected.

2019 Service Learning and Youth and Community Preparedness Summit

The Guam Department of Education (DOE), in collaboration with the Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), the Youth Preparedness Program, the Service Leaning Committee, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), will host the 2019 Service Learning and Youth and Community Preparedness Summit.

One Month Left to Apply for SBA Disaster Loans

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Director Tanya N. Garfield of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Disaster Field Operations Center-West today reminded Guam businesses and residents of the Feb. 5, 2019, deadline to apply for an SBA federal disaster loan for property damage caused by Typhoon Mangkhut that occurred Sept. 10-11, 2018.
