No Immediate Threat Assessed from Reported North Korea Missile Launch

The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in conjunction with the Mariana Regional Fusion Center (MRFC), federal and military partners, continue to monitor events surrounding the region including reports of the recent launch of an unidentified projectile off the east coast of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) today.

 
   

JIC RELEASE NO. 802 - COVID-19 Updates: 67 Hospitalized; Preliminary Test Results 95 New Cases

Today, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) reported a preliminary case count of 95 new cases of COVID-19 from 529 specimens analyzed on September 25. Additional results are pending analysis and submission from other clinics and will be reported on Monday, September 27. To date, there have been a total of 14,374 officially reported cases, 184 deaths, 3,185 cases in active isolation, and 11,005 not in active isolation. As of September 24, the CAR Score is 25.7.

Today, the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) reported a preliminary case count of 31 new cases of COVID-19 from 383 specimens analyzed on September 24. Additional results are pending analysis and submission from other clinics and will be reported on Monday, September 27. To date, there have been a total of 14,279 officially reported cases, 184 deaths, 3,090 cases in active isolation, and 11,005 not in active isolation. As of September 24, the CAR Score is 25.7.
   

Strong Thunderstorm Over Guam Coastal Waters; Boaters Advised to Seek Harbor

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a marine weather statement for Guam coastal waters. A strong thunderstorm, capable of producing winds to around 25 knots and producing approximately 10 cloud to ground strikes per minute is located 27 nautical miles west of Ritidian. This thunderstorm is nearly stationary.  
   

Thunderstorm Advisory in Effect; Practice Caution on the Roadways

The National Weather Service (NWS) Guam Weather Forecast Office issued a thunderstorm advisory, in effect for the Guam International Airport until 2 a.m. Saturday morning. Thunderstorms are possible or occurring within 20 nautical miles of the airport. Be alert and take precautions as required. If lightning is seen or thunder is heard, remain indoors.
