Typhoon Man-Yi continues its west-northwest track at 31 mph. It is expected to make its closest point of approach 250 miles south-southwest of Guam at 9 a.m. Because of its distance, Guam remains in a tropical storm warning.
While the island is expecting continued winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 45 mph, the National Weather Service has recorded winds in the southern part of Guam at 59 mph.
Additionally, Guam can expect 2-4 inches of rain as the storm passes through our area.
ROAD SAFETY
The weather can make driving conditions hazardous this morning. If you are driving, be alert for low visibilities and water covering the road. Rain showers will cause brief flooding of roads, especially in poor-drainage areas.
MARINE SAFETY
Please stay out of the water. There is a high surf advisory of 12-13 feet is in effect. Boaters should be prepared for gust up to 45 knots and near zero visibilities. Seek shelter below decks if lightning is seen or thunder heard.
POWER
Power outages have been reported in pocket areas throughout the island. GPA crews are actively restoring power. Please be patient as lightning strikes continue to occur. To report outages in your area, please call 475-1472/3/4.
