Three COVID-19-Related Fatalities Reported
The Joint Information Center was notified of three (3) COVID-19-related fatalities:

The 264th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) on November 26, 2021. The patient was a 68-year-old female, unvaccinated. She tested positive on November 10, 2021.
The 265th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at GRMC on November 30, 2021. The patient was a 36-year-old male, unvaccinated with underlying health conditions. He tested positive on November 20, 2021.
The 266th COVID-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Memorial Hospital (GMH) on December 1, 2021. The patient was a 54-year-old female, unvaccinated with underlying health conditions. She tested positive on October 29, 2021.

“These tragic passings remind us that the pandemic is not over,” said Acting Governor Josh Tenorio. “To their loved ones, our hearts are with you during this most difficult time. With the holidays here and the promise that comes with a new year upon us, we must stay vigilant and stay the course. Continue to practice the three W’s, but also get vaccinated if you haven’t already and get your booster if it’s been six months or more since your last shot. These simple steps save lives and our collective efforts will get us through this together.”

The Guam Behavioral Health and Wellness Center (GBHWC) has a Crisis Hotline available 24/7 at (671) 647-8833/4. For those feeling anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, or need to talk to someone, GBHWC has experienced providers available and ready to assist the community with any heightened stress and anxiety experienced as a result of COVID-19.

DON’T WAIT UNTIL IT’S TOO LATE.

Look for emergency warning signs for COVID-19. Seek emergency medical care immediately or call 911 if you have trouble breathing, persistent pain or pressure in the chest, new confusion, inability to wake or stay awake, or bluish lips or face. Individuals who are sick are advised to:

Stay home, except to seek medical care. Call ahead before visiting the clinic/doctor.
Monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 including fever, cough, and shortness of breath, fatigue, body aches, headaches, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion, nausea and/or diarrhea.
Get tested if you have symptoms of COVID-19. While waiting for test results, you should stay away from others, including staying apart from those living in your household.

SPECIAL NOTE: Based on today's data, if we were to compare two (2) hypothetical populations of 100,000 people each, vaccinated versus unvaccinated, there would be 6 vaccinated people hospitalized for COVID-19 compared to 37 unvaccinated people hospitalized for COVID- 19. The risk of being hospitalized for COVID-19 is about 6 times higher for the unvaccinated as compared to the vaccinated. *Estimated population is based on DPHSS Immunization Program analysis of 2020 Census data. Updates are expected pending further Census 2020 data breakdown.

COVID-19 Test Results: 15 New Cases of COVID-19
The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) reported fifteen (15) new cases of COVID-19 out of 805 tests performed on November 30. One (1) case was identified through contact tracing. To date, there have been a total of 19,214 officially reported cases, 266 deaths, 1,560 cases in active isolation, and 17,388 not in active isolation. The CAR Score is 0.6.

Monoclonal Antibody Therapy Treatment Continues
DPHSS, in partnership with the Mayors’ Council of Guam and the Guam National Guard, continues to offer outpatient monoclonal antibody (mAb) therapy at the Mangilao Senior Citizens Center in Mangilao. Patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 may receive mAb therapy if they meet the eligibility criteria through a referral from their private physician, a COVID-19 community test site, or a hospital. A Pre-Screening Assessment has been developed to guide individuals who may be eligible for mAb treatment. Food Commodities Distribution Continues
The Guam Department of Education (GDOE), State Agency for the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) under the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Nutrition Service distribution will be available to village constituents only on a first-come, first-served basis. Distribution is limited to three households per vehicle at the sites. Face masks must be worn; bring a photo ID.

Drive-thru distribution is from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Yigo Gym for Yigo constituents, while supplies last. Individuals carpooling must obtain a Yigo Mayor’s Verification prior to the distribution date in order to verify that they are residing in a separate household. Limit one food commodity bag per household. Any remaining food commodities will be issued door-to-door. Those who did not receive a bag for various reasons (i.e. no transportation, elderly persons, etc.) will be prioritized. Guam COVID-19 Vaccination Update
As of November 30, a total of 125,464 of Guam’s eligible population (residents 5 years and older) is fully vaccinated. This total includes 12,052 residents 12 – 17 years old. 2,947 residents 5 – 11 years old received their first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech two dose series. 28 residents 5 – 11 years old have completed their two-dose series. 26,619 booster shots have been administered to eligible residents.

Wildfire

Regularly clean the roof and gutters.
Maintain an area approximately 30’ away from you home that is free of anything that will burn, such as wood piles, dried leaves, newspapers and other brush.
Connect garden hoses long enough to reach any area of the home and fill garbage cans, tubs, or other large containers with water.
Review your homeowner's insurance policy and also prepare/update a list of your home's contents.

Turn on your TV/radio. You’ll get the latest weather updates and emergency instructions.
Know where to go. If you are ordered to evacuate, know the route to take and have plan of where you will go. Check-in with your friends and family.
Keep your car fueled, in good condition, and stocked with emergency supplies and a change of clothes.

Conserve water

Take shorter showers.

Turn off the water while brushing your teeth or shaving.
Run the washer less frequently and only when you have a full load.
Water your lawn less frequently and do so when the temperature is cooler in the early morning or late evening.
When you run the tap to heat or cool water, keep a pitcher to store the water and use it to water plants.
Avoid washing your car.

Practice fire prevention

Don't set off fireworks when conditions are dry.
Deposit cigarette butts in the proper receptacle to avoid starting a
