The Joint Information Center was notified of three additional COVID-19-related fatalities.
The forty-fourth fatality occurred at the Guam Memorial Hospital (GMH) at approximately 9:15 a.m. The patient was a 58-year-old female who tested positive for COVID-19 upon admission to GMH on September 2, 2020. She had underlying health conditions that were compounded by COVID-19.
The forty-fifth fatality occurred at approximately 3:23 p.m. at GMH. The patient was a 79-year-old male with comorbidities. He was admitted to GMH on August 29 and tested positive upon admission.
The forty-sixth fatality occurred at GMH at approximately 7:00 p.m. The patient was a 44-year-old woman. She was admitted to GMH earlier this afternoon and tested positive for COVID-19 upon admission.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the passing of three more individuals due to COVID-19. To their family and friends, we offer our deepest condolences and share with you in your sorrow,” said Governor Lou Leon Guerrero. “We cannot let our guard down. Our actions do not just affect us—they affect our family, friends, colleagues, and community. We need to do whatever we can to end our days of grief.”

Cumulative Results
To date, there have been a total of 2,390 officially reported cases of COVID-19 with 550 cases in active isolation and 1,795 not in active isolation. Of those cases, 2,123 are classified as civilians and 267 are military service members.
As of today, September 28, there have been 46 COVID-19-related fatalities. One recently confirmed COVID-19 case was reported deceased at GMH on September 28. Though the fatality was reported by the Joint Information Center today, it will not be officially included in the Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) COVID-19 Situation Report until tomorrow, September 29.
On Saturday, September 26, the Joint Information Center reported a positive case from the Department of Defense in error. The numbers have been updated to reflect the correct case count.
One hundred and four (104) new cases of COVID-19 were reported to DPHSS from September 25–27: 43 on September 25, 54 on September 26, and seven on September 27. This is inclusive of the 67 cases reported by the Joint Information Center on Saturday, September 26. Fifty-five (55) cases were identified through contact tracing. Seven cases reported recent travel from the United States and were identified in quarantine.

One GDOE Contractual Worker Tests Positive for COVID-19
On Monday, September 28, 2020, the Guam Department of Education (GDOE) confirmed that one GDOE contractual worker from John F. Kennedy High School (JFKHS) tested positive for COVID-19. This case was identified through contact tracing efforts.
The GDOE is working closely with DPHSS to conduct contact tracing and any close contacts of the confirmed case will be contacted directly by DPHSS. A close contact is an individual who has come in face-to-face contact with a confirmed COVID-19 individual for at least 10 minutes or more and within six feet, or who has had direct contact with infectious secretions of the confirmed COVID-19 individual (e.g. being coughed on).
Areas of the campus will be identified for cleaning and disinfecting as needed and employees will not have access to these areas until cleaning has been completed.
