CDC Dengue Presentation Made Available
The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS), along with partner agencies, and the Guam community, continue efforts to mitigate the spread of the dengue virus on Guam.
To date, there remain eight confirmed cases of locally acquired dengue infection and four confirmed cases of imported dengue infection.
Burning at Home to Repel Mosquitoes
Open controlled burning is authorized by permit only. Permits are available at any Guam Fire Department fire station. Burning must be done near a water source, such as a garden house, and between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. only, as stated in the permit. Permits may be revoked at any time. Residents are reminded to be considerate of neighbors and those who may have respiratory conditions.
Dengue Presentations Provided
As part of an aggressive outreach commitment, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continues to provide DPHSS with technical assistance on epidemiological surveillance, monitoring, and risk communications. Part of the initiative is providing informational briefs to all stakeholders and the community.
