FEMA Offering Free Rebuilding and Repairs Tips in Guam
School Debris Cleanup Underway, Residential Debris Cleanup Forthcoming:
The Joint Information Center is aware of a viral messaging circulating regarding typhoon related debris removal for residential collection. The community is advised that the viral message is unofficial and that an official announcement is forthcoming.
The program is part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) debris removal program for the island’s public schools, which launched last Friday. The effort is in partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Office of the Governor of Guam.
As debris removal for schools is prioritized at this time, opportunities for residential debris removal and pickup will be provided at a later date. Following its school sweep, USACE will launch its debris removal program for residential areas. More information will be available in the coming days, including what debris is eligible/ineligible and how to properly sort debris. The community is advised to refrain from staging residential debris until the official notification from the Joint Information Center.
