The Ypao Point Disaster Debris Disposal site in Tamuning will end operations today, Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 6 p.m.
Ypao Point only accepts the following:
- green waste
- wood waste
- metallic waste
- white goods
- construction debris – (including building materials, drywall, bulky furniture, carpet, and plumbing)
Residents are advised to presort and secure their waste loads before traveling on the roadways. As a reminder, household trash, household hazardous waste, electronic waste, junk tires, junk vehicles, junk boats, and compressed gas cylinders are not accepted at Ypao Point.
All other disaster debris sites, including the old Dededo transfer station and the former Tiyan carnival grounds, ended operations on July 3, 2023.
Household Trash Disposal Available at GSWA Transfer Stations
Residents looking to dispose of household trash can visit any of the three Guam Solid Waste Authority (GSWA) residential transfer stations in Harmon, Hagåt, and Malojloj. Transfer station operation hours are Thursday through Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents are urged to dispose of household trash at any of these three stations for a nominal fee. Non-liquid household hazardous waste and electronic waste can be disposed of at the GSWA residential transfer station in Harmon. Residents are urged to dispose of their solid waste properly. Illegal dumping is a violation of Guam law. In accordance with 10 GCA §51115(b), illegal dumping is subject to fines of up to $1,000 per day, per violation, along with the clean-up cost associated with the violation.
