A high surf advisory has been extended until 6 a.m. Monday for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan. There is also a high risk of rip currents through tonight along west facing reefs. Hazardous surf of 7 to 9 feet will continue on west facing reefs through tonight.
Avoid venturing near reefs and beaches, especially those facing west. Large breaking waves can knock you down and cause serious injuries. Strong rip currents will be life threatening. If caught in a rip current, swim parallel to shore and back toward the beach when possible. Do not try to swim directly against a rip current.
The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) caution the community to heed the warnings of NWS and practice extreme caution if near the water. Avoid west facing beaches until hazardous seas subside.
