GHS/OCD, along with emergency management partners, will host the NPM Kick-Off Wave today, September 3 at 4 p.m. at the Chief Quipuha Park, Hagatna. Residents and visitors around the Chief Quipuha Park can expect to see and hear emergency response vehicles and a crowd at the intersection safely promoting NPM. All safety precautions were taken into consideration for the event.
This year’s NPM theme is “Prepared, Not Scared.” Throughout September, GHS/OCD joins the national campaign in providing public education and outreach activities to stress the importance of planning and preparing for natural, human-caused, and technological disasters. The community is encouraged to conduct preparedness actions; develop emergency plans, learn how to stay safe, and how to communicate during an emergency.
National Preparedness Month will end with a grand finale on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Agana Shopping Center from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. (ChST). During the expo, there will be activities, booths, short skits, demonstrations and much more.
