The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in coordination with the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center (NDPTC), will host the Tsunami Awareness (AWR-217) training on April 30, 2019 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the GHS/OCD facility, Agana Heights.
The AWR-217 course is offered at no cost to eligible participants and will enhance attendees’ abilities to support respective organizations’ tsunami preparedness and response efforts; and provide a better understanding of the tsunami hazard, current hazard assessment tools and products, tsunami warning and dissemination systems, and methods of community response to local and distant tsunamis.
Attendees for this course include emergency management personnel and partners from the Government of Guam, federal, military, private, and non-profit organizations.
