The Offices of Guam Homeland Security and Civil Defense (GHS/OCD), in coordination with the Counterterrorism Operations Support (CTOS) – Center for Radiological/Nuclear Training, will host multiple opportunities for the “Introduction to Radiological/Nuclear Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Operations” AWR-140 course at the University of Guam, School of Business & Public Administration Bldg., Room 129. The 4-hour course is offered multiple times:
- Wednesday, April 4, 8:00 a.m. – 12 noon
- Thursday, April 5, 8:00 a.m. – 12 noon
- Friday, April 6, 8:00 a.m. – 12 noon
- Friday, April 6, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Monday, April 9, 8:00 a.m. – 12 noon
- Tuesday, April 10, 8:00 a.m. – 12 noon
The four-hour course provides first responders and others in response or support mission roles with an introduction to radiological/nuclear WMD operations. The course provides fundamental knowledge in threat or incident recognition, protective measure, notifications, and incident area management.
GHS/OCD, in coordination with CTOS, will host a separate course, the “Introduction to Radiological/Nuclear EMD Operations Train-the-Trainer” (AWR-140-1) on Friday, April 13, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the GHS/OCD facility in Agana Heights. AWR-140-1 prepares trainers to deliver the AWR-140 Introduction to Radiological/Nuclear WMD Operations course. AWR-140 is a pre-requisite to AWR-140-1.
Attendees for the courses include first responders and emergency management personnel from the Government of Guam, federal, military, private, and non-profit organizations.
