The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Acting Administrator Pete Gaynor appointed 13 members to its National Advisory Council (NAC). Office of Civil Defense Administrator, Charles Esteves, was among the 13 appointees.
The NAC is an advisory committee established by federal law to ensure effective and ongoing coordination of federal emergency management activities. The NAC provides advice to the FEMA Administrator through recommendations on all aspects of emergency management.
The NAC consists of up to 35 members, including a diverse cross-section of officials, emergency managers, and emergency responders from state, local, tribal and territorial governments and non-governmental organizations, and the private sector. The qualifications of each candidate were carefully considered during an intensive review process that included a recommendation panel of senior FEMA leadership.
“It is an honor to serve as a member of the NAC and am thankful to the Administration for their support and letter of recommendation,” stated Office of Civil Defense Administrator Charles Esteves. “Additonally, I believe the NAC can be a useful vehicle to advocate for Pacific-based issues to support of our nation’s effort to increase resiliency.”
