The area resumed normal operations and all affected roadways were opened to motorists. All precautions were taken to ensure the safety of the public and responders involved.
The Guam Police Department (GPD), Guam Fire Department (GFD), and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, working with the Tamuning Mayor’s Office, the Department of Parks and Rec (DPR) Park Patrol, and G4S Visitor safety officers responded to the scene for the successful completion of the Render Safe Procedure (RSP) and safe extraction of the UXO.
The community is reminded to practice the “3Rs of Explosive Safety” when any UXO is encountered:
- Recognize - when you may have encountered a munition and that munitions are dangerous.
- Retreat - do not approach, touch, move, or disturb it, but carefully leave the area.
- Report - call 911 and advise of what you saw and where you saw it.
